This is the first thing that you should have in mind. Most of the people say that Venice is the best and the most adored tourist destination in the world. Well, that is true and it’s the first face. However, there are several other things you don’t know about the same city. The city is an economic hub with a lot of its locals involving in different types of small scale businesses. For this reason, this city can be crowded and noisy.
However, you should not expect a 24/7 economy as it is the case in most of the metropolitans. In this city, people will get out for a lunch break and return later on. At this point in time, you may realize that the city will remain silent until most of the people are back to their normal chores. Additionally, most of the shops will remain closed a few minutes to 8 PM. What this means is that you may not see many people in the city late at night.
The city has a village touch
Venice is one of the smallest yet adorable cities in the world. It has just 55,000 inhabitants who rarely use vehicles to move from one place to the other in the city. What this means is that this city can look like a small village.
A friend of mine said that Venice is the most social city in the world. If you try to make friends, then with no time you will know a lot of people in town. What this means is that if you try to befriend a few locals here, they may introduce you to more people and with no time you will be familiar to the entire group.
Since it’s a small town, you will land to some people you know every time you step out of the door. It is a city that has all kinds of people. It all depends on the person you befriend. What this means is that the experience can either be terrifying or charming depending on who you face.
Some things are cheap here
Most people would expect that since this city is a tourist attraction, most of the things are expensive. This may be its true but not all the things in the city are expensive. However, if you want accommodation here, you should be ready to dig deeper into the city.
Food is also expensive; you better buy from the city and cook at home. If you decide to eat at a restaurant, most of the foods are expensive. It’s wise to get ACTV card for transportation. If you must eat n the city, then you have to stick to the café as the best place to eat on a budget.
Here, people drink while standing
It looks funny but the fact is that most of the people here drink their coffee while standing at the counter. Even when they are drinking alcohol, most of them will drink from the counter unless they have some accompaniment.
The main reason for this is to save from table service but others also take it as a convivial atmosphere. The other thing is that most of the people here don’t take a long time in clubs. They either buy alcohol to drink at home or just spend some few hours in the club and leave.
There are a lot of community events
When you are in the city, you will find a lot of information about community events. There are several of them with most of them relating to film, culture, and music. If you are a lover of music or these activities, then you will have a nice time. There will be very many others put up in Laundromat windows and street corners. This is the best way of knowing what is going on in the community. It is a good way of knowing everything about the people here.
Open space and greenery
If you are that kind of a person that always wants to spend time outside somewhere, then the Lagoon island is the best place for you. You can spend as much time as you want here enjoying the natural beauty of the city. It is also a good place for you to visit with your family and friends.
There’s a lot of art
In Venice, art is the next big thing in the city. For such a small city, you can find a lot of arts and culture. In fact, people here have a lot to offer. Most of the churches, museums and several other buildings in the city are the resemblance of art.
People walk
Most of the people wonder how they can move around the city when it’s raining. However, the fact is that walking is at the core of the veteran’s way of life. People in Venice are used to walking from one place to the other in town. They walk throughout the day for their destinations. What this means is that if you are planning to visit this place or even to live here, you must be ready to walk. This doesn’t mean that there are no vehicles or even buses for commuting purposes, they are there but few people are willing to use them. People go to school or to work by foot.
Venetians speak their own dialect
You may expect that most of the people here speak English but that is not the case. In Venice, most of the people speak their local language. What this means is that you shouldn’t be surprised to find some people who don’t know any English.
