The annual Venice Community BBQ has become a widely popular and engaging community event in Venice at Oakwood Recreation Center each summer and this year was no exception! Venetians brought their appetizers, salads, desserts, etc to share with one another, while the barbeque was provided by local Firestation 63 in Venice on Saturday, August 2.
The Fire Station is a great bunch of dedicated people that protect our community and know how to cook up some great food consisting of: barbequed chicken, pulled pork and grilled hotdogs from the MOAB, Mother of All Barbeques! Everyone came together with a smile on their face, from the volunteers to the Venice Neighborhood Council Members and Councilman Mike Bonin and his staff, plus the bands.
You’ve got to have music for your party and the local musicians like Christopher Hawley, Flyin’ Lion and others kicked out the jams and made for some great listening while chowing down – and dancing, for those who actually left the feeding frenzy. And there’s more; games for the kids, classic cars worth checking out and the raffle for those that contributed to the potluck with prizes donated by local businesses. When it comes down to it, everyone was a winner on that day!
