ETC Gallery Art Opening & Record Release for Ezekiel Honig April 23, Thursday
ETC Gallery hosts their inaugural Art Opening at their new gallery space in Dogtown Realty in Santa Monica on April 23, Thursday from 6-9pm featuring Artists & Musician, Ezekiel Honig.
A convergence of art and music is brought together at the grand opening of ETC Gallery in a unique space, located in the original stomping grounds of Dogtown, the crossroads of Santa Monica and Venice surfers and skaters, some of whom were fueled by passion and creativity as artists, such as Tony Alva and Jeff Ho.
This sets the stage for and exciting show from Ezekiel “Zeke” Honig, Founder of Anticipate Recordings and Microcosm Music, celebrating the release of his new record (on the Berlin-based label, Abandoned Audio), A Film of String & Wood combines an art show with a record release event, highlighting the crossing paths of visual and audio. The textured paintings exhibited at the show originate with music and create a visual flow that becomes a melodic abstraction. This will be heightened by Honig’s music at the event, a mix of muted, field-recording-laden, electronic/acoustic material, curated and programmed by him, including edits of live sets, older tracks and selections from the new record.
The ETC Gallery is founded by artist Leslie Heinze, along with Jeremy Ryan. While Leslie is a recent transplant to Venice, she is already immersed in the culture of the area and works with local and international artists. ETC Gallery started as a popup gallery and recently had an opening at Stacksocial in Venice, with up and coming artists in the show such as Isabelle Alford-Lago and Michael Kortez, co-creator of an art work with Tony Alva. An interesting mix were in attendance at the quarterly popup event, including established Venice artists such as Larry Bell and Peter Shelton, creative designers, startup folks and more. The Art Meets Tech theme reflected the changing scene in Venice.
